Career Development Association of the Philippines’s 35th National Convention

CDAP is a professional organization dedicated to the growth, practice, and advancement of career development in business and industrial organizations, educational institutions, government agencies, and non-government organizations in the Philippines. It is the recognized leader in the research and practice of Career Guidance, Career Counseling, and Career Development. CDAP is a PRC-accredited CPE provider.

The work environment in the new millennia is characterized by workforce diversity and borderless business environment. Given this setting, the demand for knowledge workers has become imperative for knowledge-based societies. On the home-front, DOLE statistics continue to point out a rise in unemployment and underemployment rates, signifying a dearth of talents for desirable workers. Moreover, PMAP in a recent survey showed that a majority of applicants, especially fresh graduates, fail in their job interviews due to lack of key behavioral competencies. Getting the right person for the job appears to be more a dream than reality.

In its intent to contribute to nation building via career education efforts, CDAP is holding its 35th National Convention, instead of September 5-7, 2012 (due to unavoidable circumstances), we deemed it necessary to hold it on November 21-23, 2012. This year’s theme is, “Re-engineering Career Development: A response to recent thrusts”. Venue is at the CSB Hotel, Arellano Ave. corner Estrada St. Malate, Manila.

Through the Plenary Sessions and Concurrent Workshops, the conference aims to a) increase the participants’ awareness about the K-12 program and its impact on the workforce and educational institutions; b) engage participants in a personal wellness program to combat occupational hazards; and d) equip and/or enhance the participants’ skills and competencies in reference to career counseling, career decision making, career-related research, and career coaching; and e) appreciate the importance of collaboration with the different stakeholders.
