Jaymee “Ymi” Castel graduated with a Computer Science degree from De La Salle Lipa five years ago. Today she works as a Web Developer at Wolfpac Mobile, Inc., a subsidiary of Smart Communications. The company develops a vast array of mobile application products and content and is now one of the largest Mobile Applications Developers in the Philippines.

As a Web Developer, she is responsible for handling the functioning of the application of their clients’ websites. She is also involved in the development of new applications on the web for different business requirements.

Did you start out as a Web Developer after you graduated?
“Not really. I started as an IT Specialist for a manufacturing company in Laguna and even worked as an EDI Maps Quality Assurance Engineer. I then relocated to Manila and started working as Programmer and Web Designer for different companies. I’ve actually worked for 6 companies since I graduated so I’m almost a professional job hunter!”

“Also, aside from being an IT person, I am a full-fledged artist. I’m part of two bands and I also dabble into photography. I look like a regular girl from afar until you see all my tattoos, highlights and piercings. This actually makes me nervous when I do job interviews. But luckily, they saw past that and were more interested in what I can contribute to the company.”
