Itprosasia.com and FEU-Makati at the 1st CelebrateIT! career seminar
Itprosasia.com hosted the first ever CelebrateIT! tech career seminar at Far Eastern University Makati last September 22, 2010. Itprosasia.com’s CelebrateIT! is a series of career talks aimed towards educating university students about their options as tech professionals who are entering the workforce for the first time. CelebrateIT! is about celebrating the successes, opportunities and potential in the technology profession. It presents career options for IT students in key expertise areas ranging from software development, web development, database management and even more specialized areas of IT such as game development and IT auditing.
 | The CelebrateIT! at FEU Makati covered three (3) unique topics. “Understanding the Technology Profession" presented by itprosasia.com President and Founder, Gina Duminy. According to Ms. Duminy, “Our incoming tech workforce must understand that the tech profession offers a wide range of expertise areas from software development, business operations support, database development, security and compliance, technical writing, etc… While it is already by default a specialized profession, they should still strive hard at finding their niche. As early as now they should acknowledge where they’re good at, find their passion and then pursue it.” |
| Guest Speaker, Mr. Sol Anastacio, president of Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) Manila Chapter talked about “Careers in IT Audit” and how lucrative this profession is. Mr. Anastacio explained to students that while companies are rapidly developing their IT resources and capabilities, traditional accounting and auditing still plays a big role ensuring that all business and IT requirements are adequately met without wasting resources and money. |  |
 | Ms. Lyshiel Valencia, president of the Game Developers Association of the Philippines(GDAP) discussed “Game Development Careers in the Philippines.” She shared key industry data about the growing demand for game developers as well as the number of Pinoy techies who have made it to global stardom due to their work and where Pinoy techies were instrumental in the success of many of today’s most popular games and animation for film. Ms. Valencia highlighted that companies are looking for individuals skilled with 3D development tools, specific programming languages and most importantly, those that are very passionate about gaming. |
