Job Description
•Support and maintain databases and database servers, including back ups, restoration, optimization of performance, monitoring, trouble shooting, and security.
•Provide guidance and assistance to less experienced and/or skilled Database Administration Staff.
•Implement and control changes to databases to ensure adherence to standards, optimal performance, and continuous service.
•Specify, install, upgrade, and configure database servers.
•Implement or assist Software Development Team with complex database design, Structured Query Language (SQL), stored procedures, tables, views, triggers, jobs, and database related software.
•Ensure escalated database problems and concerns are addressed efficiently to ensure all operational systems work properly through an understanding of NCO and Client business need.
•Troubleshoot malfunctions on databases. Isolate, diagnose, and resolve database problems or escalate issue to Information Technology Team or to vendor for resolution.
•Test and implement schematic changes from Quality Assurance Team to production and monitor and measure performance and processing impact.
•Document processes of all newly implemented databases and database servers.
•Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with all Federal and Local laws and regulations.
•Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with NCO policies and procedures.
•Make recommendations to implement improved processes.
•Provide feedback to management concerning possible problems or areas of improvement.
•Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Tech Professional Description
•Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent in relevant work experience.
•2 years of related experience with database administration and analysis required. 4 years of related experience with database administration and analysis preferred. 5-7 years as a senior SQL (Structured Query Language) Database Administrator preferred.
•Experience with Microsoft SQL (Structured Query Language), SQL Server 2005, and SQL Server 2008, including server clustering and database mirroring.
•Expert knowledge of monitoring and tuning in Structured Query Language (SQL) Server 2000, SQL Server 2005, and SQL Server 2008.
•Experience with large-scale high availability environments (50+ servers) housing multiple large to very large databases (VLDBs).
•Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
•Ability to adapt to a cyclical schedule.
